🔍 What You Need to Know

Location: LuxxLounge, Terminal 1, Area C, Level 3 (between concourses B & C, gallery / Travel Market side)

Hours: 6:30 AM to 9:30 PM daily

Access: Via Priority Pass, Lounge Key, Lounge Pass, Diners, or certain invitation cards. Also open for self-pay customers (non-membership) for €39 with a maximum three hour stay. This can be avoided if the lounge is full with other guests.

Facilities: When the lounge is at full capacity, both sides of the lounge are open. Towards the left side is an open area past the kitchen. The right side is usually more crowded because it is closer to the food and restrooms.

👍 What's Actually Good

Staff Service: The staff is very friendly and accommodating, which makes the experience more pleasant despite other shortcomings.

Drink Selection: The lounge offers a comprehensive beverage program with both alcoholic and non-alcoholic options to suit all preferences.

Alcoholic Beverages: A well-stocked bar features premium spirits including German and international wines, craft beers, premium whiskeys, gin, rum, and vodka. The selection includes both local German brands and international favorites, with staff available to recommend pairings with the food offerings. Premium alcoholic beverage selection

Non-Alcoholic Options: For those preferring alcohol-free beverages, the lounge provides a variety of fresh juices, premium soft drinks, sparkling water, and an extensive tea selection featuring both traditional and herbal varieties. Non-alcoholic drinks and tea selection

Tea Service: A dedicated tea station offers a curated selection of premium teas, including traditional black teas, green teas, herbal infusions, and specialty blends. The tea service includes proper brewing equipment and accompaniments.

Halal Options: There is Halal food available upon request, which is helpful for Muslim travelers.

Basic Comfort: When lounge access is limited, it does offer basic relief with seating and a place to rest away from the main terminal crowds.

👎 The Reality Check

Poor location for connecting passengers

The lounge is "land-side," meaning outside the security / passport control / transit area. If you're transiting and want to stay airside, this lounge is inconvenient. You'll have to re-clear security, which is a major hassle for connecting passengers.

The food situation is dismal

The food is a real disappointment. In the evenings, there's tomato soup, salad, and some sort of starch like cheesy potato-au-gratin, or mashed potatoes. There's a small salad bar with two types of dressings. For snacks, there's salted nuts, butter cookies, and pretzels. Don't expect any thrills as the food is dismal.

Crowding issues

Because of its limited size, the lounge can feel crowded, especially during peak hours. Seats fill up quickly, and there's often a lack of privacy and noise issues that make it feel less relaxing than other lounges.

Limited amenities

There is one shower available, but it would be best to use the showers in Terminal 1 near Gate 52. The shower costs €10 and they provide a towel. Power outlets are limited, and many seats don't have easy access to charging points. Shower facilities

⚖️ Verdict

LuxxLounge is okay if your expectations are modest, especially if:

  • You have some lounge access already and you just need somewhere to wait comfortably for your flight.
  • You don't mind being outside the security / transit area.
  • Your stay isn't very long, or you're arriving early/late when other lounges might be closed or unavailable.

However, if you expect more (luxury, good hot meals, quiet, space, modern furnishings, lots of amenities), this lounge probably will feel disappointing. For many travelers, the cost vs the benefit is weak unless there's no better alternative.
